An Ottoman Mansion of the late 19th century

In the second half of the 19th century the Ottoman Galata and Pera region saw a steady growth with the construction of European style multi-storey apartments. The Mansion our hotel is now located in, used to be called Mansion Yazıcı and had a pioneering role in urban development on our Serdar-ı Ekrem Street (called “Yazıcı Street” at the time). The mansion was one of the first apartment experience for some of the middle class members of the Ottoman society.

Along our hotels street, one may see today many other apartments of historic importance, (namely Kamondo, Yusuf İzzettin, Hacı Said, Salomon Asseo, Levi, Elias Braunstein, M. Dikeos, Louis Agostini, Carlo Amancich and Zellich apartments, etc.). Virtually all of which have been erected at the end of the 19th century.
